Final Presentation | 20 May 2018

What did you complete this week?

This week I worked on my final presentation. Going through the past assignments, it made me realize that I will definitely need to take this class again in a future semester. My target audience is not where I need it to be. It is still pretty vague and needs to be narrowed down.

Next week is the final week for the semester. I already know that I will be taking the visual design class (WNM 830) in the summer. Hopefully with a better design of my project, I can have a better focus of what this project is going to be.

Module 13

Clickable Prototypes | 13 May 2018

What did you complete this week?

This week, I built the clickable prototypes per each of the three tasks. I used Adobe XD this time instead of Axure. Adobe XD is far superior than Axure. I liked how the ability to link pages was a click and a drag. It is much more user friendly than the Axure.

A/B Testing | 6 May 2018

What did you complete this week?

This week, I performed my A/B Testing. I used some of the old paper prototypes and tried out Adobe XD for one of the tasks.

First of all, Happy Earth Day! This week, I finished drawing the storyboards for the prototype 2 tasks. The illustrations are very basic line sketches.

Paper Prototype No. 2 Testing & Results | 15 April 2018

What did you complete this week?

I tested the 2nd prototype this week on a more specific demographic of students and a teacher. I also updated the task sheet and POC.

One of my test subjects decided to make it more personal than to actually test the product.

Paper Prototype No. 2 | 8 April 2018

What did you complete this week?

I worked on creating 3 new scenarios for the paper prototype. Alyssa gave me some advice to re-word the individual tasks as instructions instead of a list. It will help the testers follow what they are supposed to do. I will make the revisions before testing. I also revised the user personas. I added some background to each person.

I only got to doing the assignments this week. I was busy for 4 of the 7 days working at an event.

Module 4

Paper Prototype Testing 1 | 4 March 2018

What did you complete this week?

I tested my paper prototype to 3 people at work this week. For the next testing, I want to try it on someone closer to my target audience of tourists to get their perspective. This 1st testing showed me that my prototype right now is targeted to the younger generation. I need to improve my prototype to include older generations who need directions to use the prototype.

What will you complete next week?

Next week, I probably won’t get through much except for the assignments due. I work at the International Ocean Film Festival and it starts this Thursday through Sunday.

What issues did you run across?

From the age differences in testing, I found the older generations got lost through the process. The younger generation didn’t need much explanation as they are used to using a phone.

Module 3

Update Proof of Concept | 25 February 2018

What did you complete this week?

I updated my proof of concept and tasks this week. I’ve developed my project to include a local news feed and the ability to post a recent crime. These two additions allowed me to come up with the 3rd task and I think expands the project to have more user interaction.

In WNM 820, I am starting to implement the design. For next week, I will start gathering infomation related to my project.

What issues did you run across?

Not many issues this week. It was primarily thinking about the 3rd task and how to show it in the proof of concept.

Module 2

Constructive Critiques | 18 February 2018

What did you complete this week?

After the first week and understanding what this course is about, instead of focusing on branding, I will work on my wireframes. I also completed all the assignments required for this week.

What will you complete next week?

I will complete whatever assignments are due for next week. I met with Fred McHale this week to go over my project and what to do since I am pretty much starting over. I have two pages that I am set from the Midpoint Review that reflect the new direction. Based on the meeting for WNM 820, I will start developing my project as a responsive website for mobile devices only. As both classes require at least a low fidelity project, this will give me something to work on. I do need to come up with a new name for my project as Waddle SF doesn’ work for a safety walking app.

What issues did you run across?

As I am redoing a portion of the project, I had trouble coming up with a 3rd user task. I have two right now, but I would like one more.

The Beginning | 11 February 2018

What did you complete this week?

I completed all the assignments required for this week.

What will you complete next week?

Hopefully, I will come up with some new branding names for my project. Waddle SF doesn’t fit with the updated project, neither does the brand itself. If I don’ settle with a final new brand, a brainstorm of ideas will do.

What issues did you run across?

After the long winter break, it is me trying to focus and get back into the mode of going to school again, even if it is only online. Knowing that this MFA will take a total of 4 years being that I am only taking 2 classes each semester, I am trying to tell myself that I am past half-way-there.
