Final Storyboarding | 28 Apr 2019

What did you complete this week?

This week, I finalized my storyboards. I used Adobe Illustrator. Most of my time this week was devoted to the WMN 610: Balancing Creativity & Profitability class group project.

Next week, I will also rework my project in Ionic to reflect these new changes. It is also A/B Testing next week so I need my project to be most current.

Any issues or feedback you want to mention?

The first task (S1 T1) is good in that I am focusing on the person instead of the UI. The second scenario had trouble connecting task 1 to task 2. I reworked and rewrote S2 and combined the two tasks into one storyboard.

Module 10

Module 9

Prototype Testing 2 | 14 Apr 2019

What did you complete this week?

This week, I completed my prototype testing on one familiar tester and two new testers. I received better feedback by having my testers use my actual project and reference the paper prototype. From this test, I found out that my Local News pages aren’t working out for my project. Another tester (Paulina) suggested that I look into Citizen App, which I found useful as an inspiration to modify my project. I removed my Local News page and changed it to Recent Incidents. It will still be part of the Report Incident page, but now users have the ability to view fairly real-time events with options of videos and images. I also changed the interface of the Report Incident page to something easier to code. I was finding that a full width map with form boxes on top made it a challenge to code as well as very crowded.

Next week, the assignment says storyboarding. I will also rework my project in Ionic to reflect these new changes.

Any issues or feedback you want to mention?

From the feedback of the user stories, I need to focus more on the scenarios. Right now, it is too much of a background story. For my task sheet, I ended up only testing two scenarios as my 3rd scenario’s task was the same are scenario 2. By only testing two scenarios instead of three, I received better feedback in the testing rounds as the users didn’t feel overwhelmed.

Module 8

User Stories | 07 Apr 2019

What did you complete this week?

This week, I redeveloped my user stories. I haven’t touched or looked at it since Spring 2018 and it needed to be modified. I also modified my scenarios for prototype testing for next week.

Next week, I will prototype test my actual project. I know it is incomplete so I will also print my paper prototype so my testers can reference it when they perform the tests.

Module 7

Midterm Presentation | 24 Mar 2019

What did you complete this week?

This week, I worked on my midterm presentation.

Next week is Spring Break. The following week is the restart of classes so I will work on that next assignment.

I didn’t hover over each interviewee. Instead, I printed out the questionnaire and had them fill it out themselves keeping close in case they had questions. It wasn’t a "sit down and chat" type of interview.

Module 6

Audience Interviews | 18 Mar 2019

What did you complete this week?

Happy St. Paddy’s Day, yesterday! It was also my birthday the day before that so I turned in my assignments late. This week, I completed my audience interviews before the due date.

Next week is midterms so I will need to gather everything together for that.

Module 5

Audience Interview Questions | 10 Mar 2019

What did you complete this week?

This week, I removed the local news tasks in my POC as they floated in empty space if you know what I mean. They didn’t have a purpose to be there. I also reverted the Post Event dropdown to a list instead of icons. The last thing I did in my POC was add written directions to the map pages. Before, the only way to get to the destination was the green line on the map. Now, there are directions to explain which way to travel. I also done my interview questions.

What will you complete next week?

Next week, I will ask my 3 real interviewees my questions. I will be asking my paper prototype testers since two of my questions are more detailed pertaining to my project. The good thing about these interviewees is that I see them almost everyday so if they have to reschedule, it shouldn’t be a problem. The only one that might be difficult to reschedule is the student because of after school activities.

Any issues or feedback you want to mention?

I had no directions showing on my wireframes except for the lines from A to B. Now the header has directions with arrow icons and a dropdown icon (...) for more directions.

Module 4

Paper Prototype Testing | 03 Mar 2019

What did you complete this week?

This week I completed the assignments attached. For my POC, I removed Use Case 4 & 5 as the target audience for these two are way different than the rest of the cases. I made changes based off of the testing results. I also added an optional task to Scenario 1 mainly to show the new changes to the Local News pages. This was both a suggestion and research-involved work. I found that the RSS feed is "retiring" and for my project to work, I would need a RSS feed for each of the news sites that I would use for my project. Through the testing and POC revisions, I am realizing that the Local News page is really unnecessary and it is just an additional feature, but not a required feature.

What will you complete next week?

Next week, I will only complete the assignments. This upcoming week is my hell week of work-related events including a 700-guest business lunch on Monday, Ash Wednesday, and an ocean film festival Thursday-Sunday. It happens every year so the assignments will be the only thing I can get through to.

Any issues or feedback you want to mention?

It was right to remove Use Case 4 & 5. Both cases had a different target audience that strayed away from the overall concept of the project.

Module 3

Updated Proof of Concept | 24 Feb 2019

What did you complete this week?

This week I completed the assignments attached. As for my updated POC, I changed the tasks for case 3. When the user taps on the OK button in the alert box, instead of going to the news page, it will focus on the area where the event is taking place. Now that I have changed it in my wireframes, I need to figure out how to write it in Ionic where my actual project is currently sitting. I know there is a way to do it as I have seen it done before; I think Uber and Lyft do it when your pickup car is coming your way.

Next week, I will rework my use case 4 & 5. Nikki found 5 difficult to understand and 4 kind of everywhere at once. I thought of these two extra cases during the Fall 18 semester so the situation title and summary need some revision.
